Julija Melnik

Julija Melnik – Master of Science in Education with 15 years experience in dance pedagogy, from hip-hop dance to Argentine tango, from improvisation to sacred dances of the dervishes. She is an instructor of Samara Yoga, Choreographic Samadeva, Gurdjieff dances, Lou Yong Tao Tö Qi and constellator by method of Idris Lahore. Since 2006 she has been developing and teaching CI in Baltic and many other countries, at the same time studying it with the pioneers – S. Paxton and N. S. Smith, and many others. She explores other forms of improvisation and performance, and her movement research is informed by practices of meditation, bodywork, euphonic touch, dance therapy, and other psycho-corporal techniques like Feldenkrais and Rosen method. She is keen of research in liberation and harmonisation of more subtle movements such as emotions, thoughts, energy. Argentinian tango becomes another passion since 2008, which she studies while dancing in the European capital of Tango - Berlin, with international dancers and teachers, and Argentine friends. She has developed her approach for a gentle way to teach the essentials and principles of CI, Contact Tango, Performance and Bodywork, enriched by holistic and humanistic approach of Idris Lahore's teaching.
