Rolling, sliding and bridging are perhaps the most common movements in the contact area that we use in contact improvisation. However, there are other possibilities that are worth bringing into our awareness and examining. Some of them have a high somatic component and allow us to enter into deeply felt connections. They prevent dancing from becoming hectic, and yet the potential for movement is at the forefront. Through this focus in kinetic research, we will leave familiar movement patterns in this workshop, enter new, fresh paths and once again be fascinated by the variety of qualities in our own dance.
