The retreat is an invitation to experience one week of dance deeply immersed into the wild, to approach movement and contact improvisation practice from the elemental world of earth, water, air and fire.
We will dance the questions that the elements are whispering to us, expanding the qualities of our movement by allowing Nature dancing through our bodies. We will meet a deep interconnection between ourselves and the environment through eco somatic practices, opening our sensibility to receive the knowledge that is already there, inside and around us.
We will have time for classes in an open-air studio and for excursions and practices in the surrounding nature, alternating with moments of integration and jam.
Four teachers will guide the journey through the four elements: Antü Munay, Margherita Fort, Samuel Nicola Fuscá and Valeria Chan, bringing together their paths of study and research in movement.

She fell in love with contact improvisation in 2011, since then she has never stopped learning, practicing and researching in the field of movement, training with numerous teachers in Europe, Asia and North-Central-South America. Traveling and dancing in different cultural contexts has been a great gift for her.
In her journey, the practice of contact improvisation, somatic approach and Butoh dance are the main focuses.
She started teaching in 2018 in U.S.A. and Mexico. Together with Antü Munay she has been holding a regular Contact Improvisation class in Florence since 2021, and in 2023 they founded Spazio il Mulino, a place that focuses on movement, nature and healing.
Parallel to dance, she teaches yoga and is a therapist specialized in family constellations.

Dancer, student and teacher of movement/dance.
He has been dancing since he was a child. His research goes in many directions regarding the experience of being a body, a living being. He investigates dance and movement as expression, as relationship, as language and above all as the essential freedom of the human being. The awakening of intuition, instinct, the acceptance of being animals and experiencing our bodies beyond ideological limits, of perceiving our physical, mental, emotional bodies and more, all together receiving, giving and transforming information every second and through different practices tuning all our bodies and opening new places of perception and sensitivity.

He has been studying dance since he was a child, recalls a photo at age 5 in front of a concert where he left a hole in the ground. Since then he has explored ballet first, then theater and various group sports. He returned to contemporary dance in 2010 and then began training in physical theater/performing arts in Turin with Philip Radice that lasted until 2014. Instead, since 2011 he has encountered contact improvisation dance, which definitively enters his life. He no longer stops chasing it between continents, attends festivals, teachers from various backgrounds and in 2019 decides to go direct to New York and then Earthdance in Massachuteses. He goes to meet Nancy Stark Smith personally and is not sure how he manages to interview her in CQ studios.
Since 2018 he more or less casually shares his passion for this practice, mixing it with everything he has gone through in life.
In 2022 at a Taiji-Qi Gong retreat with Sarah Tulivu he is thunderstruck by the idea of founding a place where CI is at home. 50dayscontactdance was born, a program of retreats, research and sharing in the remote Tuscan countryside.
𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻
Born in Genoa with Chinese origins, after extensive travels in Asia and South America she meets Contact Improvisation in Brazil. CI immediately becomes Home and school of life. In 2017 she returned to Europe and began studying with international teachers including Nita Little, Ray Chung, Anya Cloud, Charlie Morissey, Martin Keogh and Itay Yatuv. She has a background in Contemporary dance and her research draws from Body Mind Centering, Butoh, Axis Syllabus.
Currently leading regular Contact Improvisation classes in Genoa, she deepens her passion for the body and its energy system through the study of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Emotional Liberation Massage method.
