Have you been interested in contact improvisation (CI) but haven't seen an opportunity to begin studying the form? Have you been dancing CI for some time and found yourself stuck in moments? Do you notice yourself getting in your head while dancing and feeling awkward or clumsy?

Here is an opportunity to build skills in CI, from the ground up. For anyone who is interested in experiencing and learning about this dance form, this intensive is for you.

The core themes of this intensive are:
FLUID STRENGTH. AWARENESS. ADAPTABILITY.
I will be weaving CI fundamentals with tools from fighting monkey and body mind centering, information from the axis syllabus (a study of the body in dynamic motion), and elements of compositional improvisation. If none of these references make sense, don't worry, I will explain while teaching, just know that I take a multi-modality approach.

We will be exploring attention from the most micro cellular level to the expansive spatial level. Dancing with subtlety and buoyancy as well as well as strength and density.

Structure of the intensive:
This intensive will happen over 3 months, one module a month. The first weekend of March, April, and May. For beginners, it is required to take the first weekend before attending any of the other weekends. For practiced individuals, you can skip the first module, though it is not recommended. The weekends all build on each other and I promise there will be engaging material even for proficient dancers in all the modules.
