QUEER AND NON-BINARY CONTACT IMPROV
This workshop aims to counterbalance the common heteronormativity in the contact improvisation community. While contact and touch are per se gender-neutral, it does make a difference which gender-identity our dance partner/s have, albeit it non-binary and/ or fluid. In a safe, non-judgmental space and inclusive atmosphere, we’ll be and express our true selves through our bodies’ mobility. We’ll mindfully and honestly explore our preferences for touch and movement in contact with others who are likewise in the process of exploring theirs. We’ll celebrate the diversity and individuality of human existence in community with others, and we’ll dwell in the momentum being generated by this convergence. This workshop is a sex-negative event, though physical proximity and sensuousness will be a topic and so will be consent.
