In the gorgeous splendor of the Oaxacan coast of Mexico, we’ll explore movement, touch and presence through a variety of consensual approaches. With Contact Improvisation at the heart of our play, Authentic Movement, Blindfold Jams, Authentic Relating, The Wheel of Consent, Power-Play (sub/DOM roles) and Tantric practices will be some of the other modalities we’ll utilize to dive into the fullness of our journey to source. *(The retreat focuses on the Sensual/Non-sexual aspects of these practices)
The word source derives from Old French “sourse” a rising, beginning, fountainhead of a river, a spring! Come reconnect to our sources and expressions of joy, grief and pleasure.
Come Rejuvenate, Relax, Regenerate & Return to your Source.

As your host and teacher I bring 36 years of Contact Improvisation experience to share. Based in Western Massachusetts, I have taught across the USA, Canada, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, Europe, and Israel. In 2008-09 I was Professor of Dance at the Instituto Naciónal de Bellas Artes in Mexico City. Over the last 15 years my desire to integrate communication and intimacy skills in teaching and life led me to study Non-Violent Communication, Tantra, Butoh, BDSM, Byron Katie's "The Work," and Betty Martin's "Wheel of Consent". I have been both a teacher and a board member at Earthdance Retreat Center in Plainfield, MA, where I co-organized the Touch&Play Festival for six years. I am also a featured dancer in Sanford Lewis' documentary film about CI "An Intimate Dance." I design and moderate the international Contact Improv resource website www.contactimprov.com.

𝗔𝗕𝗢𝗨𝗧 𝗖𝗔𝗠𝗣 & 𝗭𝗜𝗣𝗢𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗘:
Located at the southernmost point of Oaxaca, the first indigenous populations of the area consider Zipolite (“beach of the dead” in Nahuatl) as a kind of underworld. Since its modern discovery in 1970, when a once-in-a-lifetime total solar eclipse made landfall here, Zipolite has been the epicenter of hurricanes, earthquakes, and counterculture.
A safer space for people of any identity and expression; all people are equal and are invited to share the restorative embrace of CAMP, Playa Zipolite, and the culture and nature of the Oaxacan coast.
Social architecture — to encourage shared presence; our guests return to CAMP to reconnect with this experience, attend our events, and enjoy the nude life if they wish.
Creators Anthony Lione, an architect, and Maybel Ovalles, an interdisciplinary artist, they design an integral culture anchored in the body of knowledge that emerges from the experiences carried out by promoters of social change, who try to define new models and perspectives in response. to this world.
𝗖𝗔𝗠𝗣 is framed to instigate wholeness, the transpersonal, and a feeling of withness. Guests and retreatants come back to CAMP to reconnect with this experience, the social architecture, enjoy clothing-optional living, explore along the coast, attend happenings, and more. All are equal and invited to share the restorative embrace of CAMP, Zipolite, and the coastal Oaxacan culture and nature.
• Nudity — is optional at the beach, welcome at CAMP, and only mandatory in our sanarium.
• Two 100㎡ open studios with tropical wood dance floors (Zipolite's biggest movement/workshop spaces)
• Wild pool - warmed sand-bottom mineral water pool (filtered, UV-sterilized, rich in minerals, low/no chlorine, and tested daily.)
• 10-person sanarium (pleasurably milder temperature than a sauna)
• Outdoor and private warm showers
• Air-conditioned massage/bodywork sala
• Gathering spaces in our gardens; patio; upper, lower, or black box studios; fire circle; and beach shelter
• High speed WiFi, good tel/data reception
• Faucet water — is filtered, tested, and potable.
Conservancy — our structures are inspired by the vernacular costeño architecture of the region and integrate earth, stone, palm, bamboo, and fast-growing sustained-yield guanacaste timber The Guanacaste Tree: A Role Model for Sustainable Wood Design in Mexico. More than 10 trees were reforested in Sierra de Juárez, Oaxaca for each tree harvested to construct the center. CAMP is water and energy efficient, with systems and devices to conserve both, and a four-stage anaerobic digester that converts all wastewater for irrigation and indirect potable water reuse.
Dark sky advocacy — accomodations and grounds are softly lit to reduce CAMP’s contribution to light pollution that impacts amphibians, birds, mammals, insects and plants.
Carbon offsets — are purchased as a way to compensate for retreatant’s transportation greenhouse gas emissions.
LGBTQ+ allyship — CAMP is a safer space for folks of any identity and expression.
𝗭𝗜𝗣𝗢𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗘:
Under the Sierra Madre mountains, Zipolite [SEE puh LEE teh] was largely isolated from the rest of Mexico before an anarchic camper enclave—a ‘hippie paradise’—formed here in the 1970s.
Playa Zipolite (an appellation of colonies Arroyo Tres, Roca Blanca, Centro, and Los Mangos) is about 2km long, so there is no need for a car. Taxis, camionetas, and colectivos are abundant.
Eating places, shops, services, craft vendors, and the country’s only nude beach are steps away from CAMP.
Climate — you will find sun all year with an average temperature of 30°C (86°F). In the so-called dry season of September-May, the air usually feels a little dryer and therefore cooler than in the summer. After the first rains in June, you can witness the florescence of nature to lush green surroundings. Many people prefer the ‘rainy season,’ which does not mean that it rains every day for four months. Typically, there may be a brief thunderstorm every few evenings or days with sun emerging afterwards.

𝗧𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗠𝗢𝗡𝗜𝗔𝗟𝗦:
Moti's intensive was hands down the best contact dance intensive I have ever taken. Moti was able to create a space where community could flourish and where we were able to explore ourselves at so many levels. Contact dance was the vehicle through which we delved deeper into ourselves and what in means to be in community with each other. I cannot recommend his teaching enough.
- Rosemary Macadam (Toronto, Canada)
This Retreat was an absolute highlight in my over 30 years on again off again CI dance life. Moti is a sensei, a true master teacher, who has fed my love for CI on a very deep level and has brought out new curiosities and inner explorations into my being a CI practitioner, who wants to see this form spread to the edges of the earth.
- Cornelia Hoehle, (USA/Germany)
The combination of a paradise ocean location and Moti’s loving, experienced teaching made this a contact improv dancer’s dream.
- Bobby Dolan, (MA, USA)
Moti's classes were always engaging and challenging without pushing me to wear out my aging body! Thanks for attuned pacing that seemed to work well for the younger bodies as well.
- Beth Dennison (MA, USA)
Moti's CI workshop has been one of my favorite CI expeditions, and I would love to go again! The diverse array of offerings, and being in a beautiful jungle with amazing CI dancers from Costa Rica/Central America, you are always in a dance of inter-connectedness, not just with bodies, but with nature (even the jungle sounds), and culture! Magical, playful, delightful...mmm!
Gracias.
- Marianna Musso, (Argentina)
