Re:Wiring the Ensemble
The morning sessions will source Nina Martin's ReWire – Dancing States and Steve Paxton’s Material for the Spine to awaken the solo body. Focusing on the spectrum of preconscious and conscious movements, we will “dance in the gap” to articulate clear physical communication and compositional approaches within contact improvisation.
The afternoon sessions will focus on Ensemble Thinking, a system of improvisational compositional group scores that increase capacity for collaborative instant creation. Dancers will explore Ensemble Thinking's principal scores to tune and refine the individual’s ability to perceive, initiate, and support collective action.
facilitated by Lower Left Artists, Nina Martin, Kelly Dalrymple-Wass, Andrew Wass

Lake Studios is an artist run dance, research, production, retreat and living space in the southeast periphery of Berlin. Two studios, a garden, outdoor kitchen, sauna and a nearby forest and lake offer possibilities for jams, workshops and small festivals or retreats. Kira Kirsch and Antoine Ragot are active contact improvisers and residents next to lake studios. They often host jams and initiate small CI retreats or research events.
