SENSITIVE WARRIORS
uses elements of (different forms of) Martial Arts to enrich the spontaneous improvised dance duo with a partner and make it even more fascinating. We will learn basic techniques of Martial Arts – easy to learn – , such as kicks, arm locks and holding (from Grappling), which we will then put together to a dynamic flow of movement with a lot of mindfulness.

We will explore the question if it is possible to combine Contact Improvisation and Martial Arts (Yes, it is!). Is it possible that a connected „We“ in a danceflow-duet suddenly metamorphoses into a challenging „You“ against „Me“? A rolling point of Contact into grappling? A centered and grounded hara of a warrior into the effortlessnet of a lift?

We will link, combine and merge movements and principles from Martial Arts with those of Contact Improvisation. The range is from punches, kicks and grappling unto yielding, deep listening and surrender. We are looking for challenge without hurting us, mindfulness also in fighting, overlooking awareness, permeability, presence, quick reaction and answer.

We are inspired by the joy to feel our own strength, by the readiness and speed of our partners. The joy of challenging and being challenged, grounding and lifting, resistance and let go …. into the shared dance.
