Holistic Dance is an invitation to transformation through dance, movement and touch. We work with a dynamic, cross-method approach from dance pedagogical, dance- and body therapeutic, systemic and holistic methods. Authentic Movement Plus, Contact Improvisation, Somatics & Applied Anatomy, Contemporary Dance Improvisation, Ecosomatics and many other elements can be found in this approach.

An exploration through dance, movement and touch into the subtle territory where intimacy, presence and expression meet.

How can we create the conditions for intimacy to arise without forcing it? How can we stay connected to ourselves while opening towards another? And what allows us to remain curious, courageous and expressive while also listening to our boundaries, our nervous system and our need for safety?

In this workshop we explore intimacy first as a relationship with ourselves, our own bodies and our inner experience. From there we gradually move towards connection with place, with another body and with the group.

Using Contact Improvisation, Contemporary Dance Improvisation, Authentic Movement, Somatics and Applied Anatomy, we explore touch, weight, movement, perception and presence. Creative writing, composition and selected scientific perspectives support us in reflecting on and articulating our experiences.

We will explore:

• intimacy with self, place and other
• creating safety and choice within movement and touch
• sensuality, vulnerability and presence in dance
• clearly setting, communicating and relinquishing boundaries
• touch as a form of communication and relationship
• the relationship between inner experience and artistic expression
• performance as an act of radical presence and expression
• physicality, surrender and the wildness within us
• listening to the nervous system while staying open to curiosity and risk
• finding the balance between release and activation, softness and clarity

We will dance solo, in pairs and in groups, moving between intimate somatic exploration and the vitality of improvisation. The invitation is not to become more intimate than feels right, but to become more available to what is.

This workshop is open to everyone with basic experiences in movement, dance and/or bodywork and is also a part of the Advanced Teachers Training (ATT) - Module Intimacy.
