My journey with Contact Improvisation has been rich and diverse. I immersed myself in weekly classes at the academy for three years, complemented by international workshops and regular attendance at jams in Milan, Barcelona, and Brussels. Observing and discussing concepts with my mentor, Elisa Ghion, has been instrumental in deepening my understanding of both the practice and its pedagogy. Currently, I teach Contact Improvisation in Belgium, with a focus on its potential to enhance creativity in dance improvisation and instant composition, particularly through the collage technique. My classes explore how this form can serve as a wellspring for innovative movement and spontaneous creation, and are enriched by a collaboration with Tommy Russo. Recently, I've embarked on a research project with an educator to investigate Contact Improvisation's potential as an educational tool for young children. This exploration aims to cultivate bodily sensitivity, teaching respect for one's own and others' physical boundaries, while developing spatial awareness. Importantly, it offers children a powerful medium to explore their emotions through bodily intelligence, providing an alternative to more structured cognitive approaches.
