November 2 - 8, 2026 INTRODUCTORY MODULE (1 week)
*FINDING PATHS THROUGH AND BETWEEN*
with Kira Kirsch, Antoine Ragot and guest teacher: Peter Pleyer
Movement Artisans is a movement research and education program developed by Antoine Ragot and Kira Kirsch.
We explore the moving body through anatomy, physics, perception, improvisation, and relationship. Our curriculum has grown through decades of engagement with Contact Improvisation, the Axis Syllabus, somatic practices, contemporary dance, and embodied research.
Each participant is invited to find connections between anatomy and experience, mechanics and perception, individuality and relationship.
Movement Artisans is therefore both a training program and an ongoing field of research, a place where movement can be studied, practiced, questioned, and enjoyed!
The Introductory Module offers an entry point into the Movement Artisans curriculum and the principles that inform our work. Whether you are new to the program or returning to deepen your practice, this module provides an opportunity to explore our approach to understand what is the potential for transformation for you.
For all modules, you will find an umbrella theme together with a selection of topics, including specific anatomical areas that will be explored in detail. A detailed schedule including formats like jams, lectures, labs or community meals will be shared with participants before the beginning of each module.
Lake Studios is an artist run dance, research, production, retreat and living space in the southeast periphery of Berlin. Two studios, a garden, outdoor kitchen, sauna and a nearby forest and lake offer possibilities for jams, workshops and small festivals or retreats. Kira Kirsch and Antoine Ragot are active contact improvisers and residents next to lake studios. They often host jams and initiate small CI retreats or research events.
