Holistic Dance is an invitation to transformation through dance, movement and touch. We work with a dynamic, cross-method approach from dance pedagogical, dance- and body therapeutic, systemic and holistic methods. Authentic Movement Plus, Contact Improvisation, Somatics & Applied Anatomy, Contemporary Dance Improvisation, Ecosomatics and many other elements can be found in this approach.

5 day Intensive Workshop

Archetypes can be understood as ancient patterns, images and qualities that live within our individual and collective imagination. The Self, the Tree, the Witch, the Sorcerer, the Lovers, the Shadow, the Warrioress and many others can become doorways into different aspects of our being.

In this workshop, we are not interested in playing an archetype or putting on a particular character. Instead, we create the conditions for these qualities to emerge through the body and reveal themselves in their own unique way.

Authentic Movement becomes an important practice for this exploration. Through witnessing, sensing and allowing rather than directing, we listen for what wants to appear.

Through movement, touch, meditation and improvisation, we explore how these different qualities can expand our movement vocabulary and our sense of possibility. We move between the deeply personal and the collective, between inner sensing and relational encounter, between structure and the unknown.

We work with: 

• different structures of Authentic Movement and the practice of witnessing
• archetypal images as doorways into embodied qualities and possibilities
• somatic awareness, self-reference and nervous-system regulation
• integration through artistic processes and transition time
• integrative Contact Improvisation and relational movement
• dance-pedagogical doorways to expand movement vocabulary
• different qualities of touch for support, relaxation and tonus regulation
• breath, sensing and movement meditation
• improvisational scores and compositional structures
• exploring boundaries, agency and choice in movement and relationship
• the transformation of inner experience into artistic expression
• cultivating consciousness through an embodied, relational and holistic process

We dance in solo, duet, trio and group formations.

This workshop is open to everyone with basic experiences in movement-, dance- and/or bodywork. This module is part of the Advanced Teachers Training (ATT) - Module Archetypes.
