This year Steve Paxton originator of CI passed away. Filled with gratitude and inspiration we are delighted to invite you to join Towards CI52 Summer Residency 2024.

The program is open for most participants to pay what they can afford. The towards foundation supports those who want to participate but because of their financial circumstances cannot afford to pay the regular price to join.

We will find the way to support as much as possible, depending on resources of the foundation we gather through our recent projects and initiatives.

Acceptance will be based on application, in which your current interest and motivation in participation will be considered.

Towards CI52 Summer Residency Program with Dolores Dewhurst Marks & Sasha Dodo

‍1-9 June - GRAVITUDE - 8 day workshop

Designed for the exploration of fundamental propositions and principles of contact improvisation, as a brief in-depth introduction to the dance form. It is a space for the practice of listening, learning, discovery, embodied inquiry, and improvisation. This workshop is open for open for every-body and inquiring mind.

The word 𝘎𝘳𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘦 is a poetic term, a combined interplay of ‘gravity’ and ‘gratitude’.

10 - 16 June - FOCUSED JAM for 𝙂𝙧𝙖𝘃𝙞𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚 and 𝙄𝙣𝙨𝙥𝙞𝙧𝙖𝙡 participants.

17 June - 7 July - INSPIRAL - 21 day intensive workshop

This workshop is designed to prepare body-mind for contact improvisation, to bring embodied understanding of the dace form, its fundamental propositions and principals, and open prospects of its current and potential development. The format of the workshop and its duration offers in-depth study, space for practice and provides conditions for integration.

The word 𝘐𝘯𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘳𝘢𝘭 is a poetic term, a combined interplay of ‘inspiration’ and ‘spiral’ (in the context of the workshop it has to do more with inspiration than with spirals).

8 - 16 July - FOCUSED JAM for 𝙄𝙣𝙨𝙥𝙞𝙧𝙖𝙡 and 𝙎𝙞𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 participants.

17 - 31 July - SILENT CONVERSATIONS - "Composing while Improvising & Making Space for unimaginable future" - 14 day art laboratory, an intersection of contact improvisation, embodied poetry and performance making.

In the heart of the laboratory is an ongoing investigation of individual and collective creative potential, the ability to radically change the way we relate and perceive the future we deeply desire.

There are 25 places for each workshop and laboratory. It is possible to attend each event independently or the full 2 months.
