Tuning Scores & Alexander Technique into Contact Improvisation with Paula Zacharías - Dom Kultury Praga - Warsaw, Poland

Join us for a weekend immersion where we explore the moving body’s relationship to space, others, and itself. Through somatic investigation and improvisation, we will tune our senses to the environment and to the moment, building a shared language of movement and attention. We will dive into the interplay between weight, support, balance, and expansion — expanding not only through space but also through ways of sensing and imagining.
Guided by principles from Tuning Scores, we will move between observation and action, cultivating the art of responding, witnessing, and composing in real time. The Alexander Technique will support us in unraveling habitual patterns of tension, allowing for a freer, more organic unfolding of movement and presence. Contact Improvisation will ground us in the physical dialogues of shared weight, gravity, and momentum — dancing between listening and action, falling and flying.
Tools we will draw from:
– Alexander Technique – a method of psychophysical re-education that invites awareness into unconscious habits, freeing the body’s natural reflexes and fostering more easeful, embodied responses.
– Tuning Scores – a set of compositional tools that nurture a fluid conversation between mover and observer, inviting attunement to space, group dynamics, and spontaneous composition.
– Contact Improvisation – a dance practice based on the physical dialogue between two or more bodies in contact, playing with weight, gravity, momentum, and trust.
This workshop is open to movers of all bodies, all identities and all levels. Dancers, actors, performers, musicians, circus artists, visual artists, somatic practitioners, and anyone curious about movement are welcomed!
Facilitator: Paula Zacharías
