Class-into-Jam
Discover the dynamic relationship between neuroscience and movement in our 3-hour workshop+jam, „Body Mind Dialogues.“ As a neuroscientist with experience in contact improvisation and dance, I aim to bridge the gap between scientific understanding and physical practice. This session will explore how our brain controls body movements through the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems. We will work on using our brains to relax our bodies, harnessing gravity, the floor, and our partners to release tension and discover effortless movement.
The first 1.5 hours will focus on guided exercises, techniques for sharing, giving, and receiving weight without effort, and experimenting with body architecture to release tension and enhance fluidity. The final 1.5 hours will be an open jam session, allowing participants to integrate these concepts in a creative, supportive environment. This time is for exploring the flow and momentum of movement, communicating non-verbally with others, and experiencing the joy of spontaneous dance. Whether you’re new to contact improvisation or a seasoned dancer, this workshop offers a rich exploration of movement and mindfulness.
