In Contact Improv, we obviously study all kinds of aspects of the direct interaction and the physical support we offer our partner/s and/or get offered by them. Eventually, we also hear the term “spatial support” and might use it as an inspiration to expand our attention beyond our own dance and kinesphere in order to include the group in the dance space into our awareness. But, is there more to it? Can we get actual palpable support from the space? Well, let’s find out! In Contact Improv in particular, we retain our anchor in our center and simultaneously reach past our body’s physical threshold, our outer hull. Now, in this workshop, we’ll also examine how to make actual use of additional external anchors in order to support our balance and even specific lifts. So, if you’re sceptical about how to achieve that, this workshop is for you!
