Contactango Workshop mit Guadalupe Santiago und Irina Jabsa

Invitation to dance with the intention of generating a space for exploration, where we can enhance our dances through the practice and fusion of Tango and Contact Improvisation. The proposal will focus on studying the principles of each language and then exploring a crossover between both dances. Together, we will create a curated space of attention, intimacy, and respect where the limit is the freedom of the other and the safety of the space we share together.

Guadalupe Santiago

I begun my tango journey in 2006 mar del plata, Buenos Aires.
The following year I discovered Reseale, Flying low and Contact Improvisation (CI) through the language of contemporary dance. Since then, I have researched and created learning spaces, delving deeper into Tango and CI. I organized and provided music for milongas for over 10 year, both in Buenos Aires and in Uruguay, but also in Brazil, Bolivia and Peru.
Between 2012 and 2016, I worked for the Ministry of Social Development and the Ministry of Culture of Argentina, managing and programming music and dance activities for children, adults, and seniors. I am a  certificied  yoga teacher and therapeutic companion. I am exploring various manual therapy techniques such as Californian massage, Zen Shiatsu and aquatic massage (AguaTai). 
In 2018 I completed my teacher training in Somatic Integration (a method focusing on Body Mind Centering). I currently co-organize La Mutante (the first stable MilonJam since 2018 in BsAs) and the Contactango Festival of BsAs. I give bodywork sessions, tango and CI classes and workshops, and I research the fusion of these practices in earth and water.

Irina Jabsa

Irina Jabsa Luzcubir is an argentinian contemporary dance and tango dancer, teacher and director. She graduated in choreographic composition on dance-theater at the National University of the Arts in Buenos Aires. Irina created tree tango and dance pieces, “Ida”, “Ensayo a dos cuerpos” and “Mujer-pollera”, she directed and danced with tree differents dancers. She co-organized  the Cambalache Festival, a tango scene festival where tango, dance and  theater merge. Irina co-organized too the first Contact Tango Festival in Buenos Aires with Guadalupe Santiago, and co.organized too La mUTANTe, a tango and contact improvisation jam.
