Finnish dance professional, pedagogue, choreographer and embodiment coach and researcher who has worked internationally over 15 years teaching, facilitating, performing and directing performances. Nella is also a theatre director, who loves to break the rules and bring flow and connection where the foreheads are too tight.

Nella has graduated from Uniart Helsinki in Master of Dance, and has also studied contemporary dance in Finland, Germany, Austria and Portugal. As a director she has specialized in creating interdisciplinary performances and films with autobiographical choreographic tools with diverse groups.

Nella discovered contact improvisation at the age of 16 in Finland and New York, and felt like in her waters immediately. Nella has been teaching contact improvisation, partnering and contemporary dance technique to hundreds of dancers in all ages around the world. Nella believes that the authentic connection to one’s own body and to the world around can foster belonging and care in this world of chaos.
