My CI Journey – Sharing Japan Research
After spending a full month dancing and researching Contact Improvisation in Japan, I feel inspired to share this experience with you.
This session is open to all levels of CI and Improvisation.
We will play with ideas, body, space, touch and surrounding, to deepen your presence in CI and explore physical and spatial contact with partners or the group.
Saturday: The focus is on contact improvisation, we will weave in shadow work, light and shadow – how does this affect our dance, our perception of contact, the decisions we make in light or shadow? We will play, explore and weave our dance together. (Inspiration by Rie Takagi)
Saturday: We will also focus on dancing in contact with objects, for example: How does a contact trio with another dancer and a chair come about? How do we stay connected to ourselves, the other person, and the object? (Inspiration by Colleen Coy)
Saturday: Ying and Yang in our belly, Ying to soften our movements, to go inward, Yang to open up and express our need to show ourselves. Where do we find this flow in our dance in contact improvisation? (Inspiration by Wataru Murakami)

Samstag: Der Schwerpunkt liegt auf Kontaktimprovisation, wir werden Schattenarbeit, Licht und Schatten einflechten – wie wirkt sich das auf unseren Tanz aus, auf unsere Wahrnehmung von Kontakt, auf die Entscheidungen, die wir im Licht oder im Schatten treffen? Wir werden spielen, forschen und unseren Tanz verweben. (Inspiration by Rie Takagi)
Samstag: Wir konzentrieren uns auch auf das Tanzen im Kontakt mit Objekten, zum Beispiel: Wie entsteht ein Kontakt-Trio mit einem anderen Tänzer und einem Stuhl? Wie bleiben wir mit uns selbst, dem anderen und dem Objekt verbunden? (Inspiration by Colleen Coy)
Samstag: Ying und Yang in unserem Bauch, Ying, um unsere Bewegungen zu mildern, nach innen zu gehen, Yang, um uns zu öffnen und unser Bedürfnis, uns zu zeigen, auszudrücken. Wo finden wir diese Strömung in unserem Tanz in der Kontaktimprovisation? (Inspiration by Wataru Murakami)
