Breathing bowls in balance - motionlab.cologne- Studio Cologne City (Aikido Schule) - Köln, Germany

Our body consists of several structures that are like bowls: hands and feet, pelvis and diaphragm, skull and jaw, front and back of the rib cage. In this workshop we use these patterns to describe several types of movement.

We explore anatomical bowls and their resonance. How could they stay in balance? What type of movements are enabled by these bowls? How can they stay in balance while moving?

As we can see quite well on jellyfish, bowls can create movement and direction by contracting smoothly. We breath in and out through contracting our diaphragm.

More and more we start to relate our own bowl structure to other beings. How is our internal structure related to moving bowls in space? Can all this stay in balance?

Expect an intensive journey through anatomic structure and related emotional parts. We can easily apply all this for typical contact patterns in lifting and rolling through space. It will create a dance that moves you – instead of you moving the dance. And it might give you a new language to perceive your dance.

Open to all levels.
