Teresa Hoffmann

I am a dancer, movement researcher and choreographer based in Hamburg and Berlin. Within my own work I am mainly dedicated to the production of dance pieces for and sometimes with young human beings since 2016. For me the relation and difference between adult worlds and children worlds stands paradigmatically for my interest in being confronted with ways of thinking, moving and feeling that for me as an adult human being has been un-learned or forgotten. In different contexts and collaborations, I am researching on attention as a creative and driving resource for moving, relating to the surrounding and feelings and making (non-)sense. I am a practitioner in the Ilan Lev Method, an approach to body work and movement that looks for clarity and space by means of chaos, asymmetry and complexity so that the logical brain can give up. I am currently elaborating  structures in Hamburg that enable longterm-transgenerational dance-ensemble-work. My movement practice is strongly influenced by intensive learning and exchange with dance artists Eva Karczag, Meg Stuart, Yaniv Mintzer and Shannon Cooney. A strong root for my general interest in improvisational settings can be dated back to my involvement in Contact Improvisation since 2009. Rather than being interested in the “form”, I am thrilled by the ongoing potential of the bodymind-thoughts that have been laid within that philosophy and time. Next to moving I love working with and creating textile objects and I play the doublebass due to the joy of being an acoustic support.
